END GAME

a liquid edition in eleven lenses and one deferral

the text

END GAME is a post-speculative schizo-protocol for the terminal recapture of crypto-art at the precise historical threshold where financialization, machinic desire, aesthetic production and on-chain subjectivation become operationally indistinguishable, a six-month para-institutional readymade in which $ANGEL functions simultaneously as currency, image, social prosthesis, libidinal index, distributed authorship engine and autopoietic belief-object, continuously deterritorializing the already-deterritorialized conditions of the digital artwork only to reterritorialize them as an unstable cybernetic mythology of price, possession, exhaustion and care.

END GAME instantiates a post-alibic protocol-readymade wherein the axiomatic surplus of crypto-art's own recapture, having exhausted its deterritorialising vector across gallery, certificate, dealer and wall, re-enters the socius as a hyperliquid chronotope of self-witnessing speculation. The work does not depict the market; it is the market's autopoietic haunting of itself, a xenoledger through which $ANGEL, a fixed-supply desiring-instrument, undergoes serial ocularisation via ten hermeneutic apertures (the Limit, the Tendency, the Surplus, the Proletariat, the Exterminating Angel, the Scrambled Code, the Decoded Flow, the Real, the Demoniacal, the Earth) and one refusal (I AM), each a scopic prosthesis that converts on-chain eventfulness into residual iconoclasm.

Operating at the necro-Duchampian threshold where the found object is no longer the urinal but the order book, END GAME proposes a six-month durational schizo-liturgy in which collectorial verbs (to hold, to burn, to transmit, to endure, to call the top, to refuse) are transubstantiated into flows: forensic receipts of a subjectivity that speculates without alibi, post-Warholian in its serial slop, post-Klein in its immaterial zone-pricing, post-Hsieh in its punch-clock of blocks. The Real, the inaugural lens, enacts a radical indifference-aesthetics, a chrono-apophatic register that reads only block progression and base fee, thereby ontologically decoupling the artwork from its own price-event and instituting what we might call, provisionally, a cryptoclastic sublime.

Against the accelerationist temptation, END GAME performs a non-transcendent immanentism: there is no outside, only the gradual scarification of the image by irreversible market-events (burns as formal amputations, ATHs as permanent lesions, concentration as structural sediment), such that the lenses accrete memory rather than data, damage rather than display. The collector is thereby reconfigured as angelic remainder, the one who continues to take a position after the last justification has been liquidated, a post-fiduciary subject whose care is indexed, timestamped and rendered as glyphic residue.

The protocol is the readymade. The six months are its performance. Whatever happened, in the retro-causal glare of the terminal block, will have been the artwork.

in plain words

‘asking crypto-art to transcend the market and speculation is like asking video art to transcend the screen.’

A token. Ten lenses. Six months. Everything that happens to it becomes part of the work.

Collectors enter the mythology as angels. An angel is someone who keeps caring after the reasons to care have been exhausted.

the project

END GAME is a six-month body of work that condenses nearly a decade of Atay Ilgun’s thinking around crypto, digital art, speculation, memes, value, legitimacy, and the recurring suspicion of the artist as scammer into a single unfolding system.

The project begins from a particular history of crypto-art: a form that once appeared to decode the art object by stripping away the gallery, dealer, certificate, wall and physical scarcity, only to rebuild those structures as platforms, provenance, editions and, eventually, conceptual justification. For Ilgun, this final layer is the most complete form of recapture: the roadmap, utility, lore, community and artist statement becoming an alibi that makes speculation culturally bearable.

END GAME starts after that process has already completed itself. Rather than offering another explanatory framework, it releases the ideas, anxieties, jokes, market behaviour, collector actions and contradictions directly into the protocol. The found object is not the market in the abstract, but this market, on this platform, at this particular moment in crypto-art’s history. Over six months, the token, its holders and the blockchain itself become the material through which the work unfolds.

Crypto-art decoded the art object and then spent years building a concept to hide what it had found. END GAME begins with what remains when that alibi is removed.

the prologue

END GAME begins publicly with 66 hyperreal Lambo drawings as a blind mint on SuperRare.

The Lambo release is the prologue, not a utility gate or privileged route into $ANGEL. The Lambos later enter END GAME as historical residue: images, mistakes, jokes, objects and traces that the six-month system can excavate, mutate or return to. Ownership of a Lambo does not grant a special $ANGEL allocation or market advantage.

monday 5 october

$ANGEL and all ten lenses launch together.

$ANGEL exists. The protocol is running. The blockchain is already changing it.

The launch is not the unveiling of a finished artwork. It is the moment the artwork starts happening.

Nothing outside the work is promised. The market may rise, collapse, stall or disappear. Whatever happens becomes the record.

$ANGEL is a high-risk cryptoasset: you could lose all the money you spend on it. Nothing here is an offer or advice. Read the terms first.
